This is our 7th Riverwood Studio mini-musical camp! These camps are beloved by creative kids who want a low-key, get-your-feet-wet experience with drama. The musicals are more elaborate than a skit and way less than a full-production. I wish I had time to run these camps all year long, because they are SO.MUCH.FUN, with all the SIDE BENEFITS of theatrical experiences.
ABOUT UNLEASHED: In this original wacky musical, a writer spins a tale on an old typewriter, unleashing a cast of characters into an enchanted forest. The characters don't like the plot and make a plot of their own to steal the typewriter. Much zaniness ensues!
Participants will learn original songs written by Jill, help develop their characters and costumes, and perform for families on the final day of class. We also play drama games and practice projection and elocution. The kids will receive recordings of the songs to learn ahead of time and a copy of the script to read through. I will cast the show by the end of the first day of camp, and kids will be expected to work on lines and songs at home. We move at a rip-roaring pace!
This class is best suited for children who have a good attention span and self-control, can process directions quickly, and are strong readers and quick memorizers. Parents may be asked to help provide costumes and props.
On the last day of camp, I will open the Riverwood Studio Store for kids to purchase fun and inexpensive art supplies and edible treats if they would like.
Please fill out the form below. I will email you an invoice for the deposit within 1-2 days. Please check your spam folder in case it gets routed there. Your registration will be complete when I receive your deposit via credit card. Deposits are non-refundable unless I'm able to fill your spot. Payment in full is due the first day of camp via check to Jill Pearson.
*I'm not including camp t-shirts this year, though I have some left over from last year for kids to purchase for $12. I'm planning to offer new ones every few years.
