2026-27 Elementary Homeschool Art Classes

Sometimes, no matter our best intentions, we watch art slip off the homeschool schedule. Weekly classes at Riverwood Studio help ensure that doesn't happen. I often hear that my art classes are the highlight of a student's week. Students are challenged to build artistic skills, problem solve, experiment with new media, interact encouragingly with others, and learn some art history and appreciation. Each year, we experiment with many 2-D mediums, such as charcoal, acrylics, oil and chalk pastels, printmaking, copper foil, and watercolors, and build skills with 3-D mediums such as clay, plaster, and fiber arts. We practice drawing skills as Step 1 of most projects. |

We begin each class by discussing a piece of art, and those conversations help students absorb art vocabulary and what makes a pleasing piece of art, which they learn to apply to their own creations.
I design new projects every year, so kids can sign up year after year, steadily improving skills! Space is limited and typically fills quickly.

Students who thrive in my elementary level class:
-can stay engaged for 90 minutes
-can cut with scissors fairly well
-do not rush through art projects at home
-have the emotional capacity to handle when artwork does not turn out as well as they'd hoped
-can persevere when something is challenging
-can follow multi-step directions
-love art!

Full year (2% discount): $338
By semester: $165/$180
Monthly (divided evenly over 8 months): $43/mo
$25 deposit due at time of registration (non-refundable and applied to tuition)
