2026-27 Studio Intermediate Art
Registration opens May 2, 8:00 a.m.

This class, running from fall-spring, is for students ages 12-17 interested in building and honing art skills. They will be challenged to try a variety of 2D and 3D media, to express themselves artistically, and to practice at home through weekly sketchbook assignments.
I offer new projects each year so students can continue taking the class year after year, steadily improving their skills. |

CREDITS:
For high school transcripts, each semester is worth .5 credit of studio art and .25 credits of art history. Weekly homework includes sketchbook assignments, occasional internet research, and art appreciation videos or short reading selections. Homework is required for high school credit and optional for middle schoolers, though the assignments will definitely help them improve skills and enrich their understanding of art, so most younger students complete the homework.
SUPPLY KITS:
Supply kits include Koi watercolors, a quality paint brush set, drawing pencil set, micron pen, Prismacolor colored pencils, and a custom sketchbook with a variety of papers. Each student will need their own kit for their weekly homework, and will keep them and transport them back and forth to class. They will be used year to year for kids who repeat the class.
Required set (one per student): approximately $80-100, depending on current prices when I place the order. If you already own some of the supplies, you don't need to get new ones. I will send out an order form a few weeks before class begins.

Students who thrive in my intermediate class:
-have some basic drawing skills
-have a high interest in improving their art skills
-do not have a lot of other commitments that conflict with art class
-put in time to complete quality homework
-enjoy exploring new mediums and subject matter, even if they are challenged at first
