ART APPRECIATION ASSIGNMENT
Last semester, we learned about art movements through history, from Ancient Egyptian to Contemporary Art.
This semester, we'll be learning about famous paintings.
This fascinating painting comes to us from Symeon Shimin, a Russian-born immigrant to the United States, who won a contest and was invited to paint this mural at the newly constructed Department of Justice Building in 1940. It took 4 years to complete.
Symeon’s mural is a meditation on the role that justice movements have had on the lives of children.
