Week 15

Be sure to complete all the assignments on this page by reading all the way to the bottom.

Preparation for next project:
Reference photo for our linocut project

If you didn't get a chance to choose and print a photo last week, please be sure to do it this week.  We will start our linocuts this week.

Linocut is a method in which we will carve out a design on soft linoleum and then use printing ink to take multiple prints.  This is what linocuts look like when you print.  Please bring a reference photo with you or send one to me to print.  It can be anything: animal, food, person, plant, flower, landscape.  I would avoid words as you have to carve them in reverse.

Here is a video that gives you an idea of the process...

Homework Assignment:
Draw an interesting corner of your house in your sketchbook.
Use your graphite pencil set to draw and shade or use your thin sharpie to create shading with lines and crosshatch.  This will be challenging if you have never worked with perspective lines, but give it a try.  We will practice more in class.

Art Appreciation

Watch the following video of the assemblage art of Barry Krammes.  The question we will discuss in class that I want you to consider:  Is this art?  Why or why not?
