For our colored pencil animal project this year, we are going to do a "Beyond the Borders" theme. Please collect and print (in color) some reference photos and bring them to class this week. Here are some examples. Notice you need a picture of your animal as well as its environment. You should print several different photos that you will combine into one piece. Here are some student examples. Some of these are done in watercolor, but we will be doing them in colored pencil and ink.

Sketchbook homework:
Sketch out a preliminary design for this project using the reference pictures you printed. Start by drawing a rectangle, leaving several inches in all directions for the border. You don't need to add any detail, just contour lines. You can make changes later.
