Sketchbook Assignment: (scroll to the bottom to make sure you do all assignments)
Remember, you may start/continue with the Inktober challenge. This is completely optional.
With a pencil or ink, draw a chair with something hanging or sitting on it from observation. Add value (shading.) Here are some examples. For an extra challenge, draw the space (walls/floor/objects) around it.
If you're struggling with the drawing, feel free to use the step by step guide on the left.
Art Appreciation Assignment:
For the first 8 weeks of class, we will watch art history videos that take us through the different periods of art. These are creative and fun. I'll have a few questions for you to answer on the lined writing paper in your sketchbook. Label the first one "Week 1" and write your answers. There may also sometimes be a little drawing assignment that you can do on the same sheet of paper.
WEEK 3 QUESTIONS: NOTE: Be sure to watch the video to the very end. During the credits, the actual art talked about in the video is shown in photos.
1. A "Renaissance Man" is a man of expertise in many ___________________, such as the engineer, sculptor, and mathematician, Brunelleschi.
2. _________________ __________________ gives the illusion of 3-dimensional space to 2-dimensional art using a horizon line and a __________________ point.
3. What was the only statue Michelangelo ever signed (and then regretted signing)?
4. Describe the differences between Renaissance artist Leonardo DaVinci's Last Supper and Mannerist artist Toretto's Last Supper. OR if you'd like, instead of writing your answer, do a super quick sketch of each one to show the difference. (stick figures are fine)
Here is the LINK for the first next video that focuses on Renaissance art.
