Remember, you may start/continue with the Inktober challenge.  This is completely optional.

BRING YOUR WATERCOLORS & BRUSHES TO THE NEXT CLASS
If you want to add more details to the sampler we made in class, here is my example.  You could also add quotes and scripture and cut them apart to make bookmarks.

Art Appreciation Assignment:

For the first 8 weeks of class, we will watch art history videos that take us through the different periods of art.  These are creative and fun.  I'll have a few questions for you to answer on the lined writing paper in your sketchbook.  Label the first one "Week 1" and write your answers.  There may also sometimes be a little drawing assignment that you can do on the same sheet of paper.

WEEK 5 QUESTIONS:
NOTE: Be sure to watch the video to the very end.  During the credits, the actual art talked about in the video is shown in photos.

1. We get the word ______________________ from when the barbarian Vandals sacked Rome and destroyed art and buildings.

2.  If you created a religious painting for the Catholic church during the time of the "iconoclasts," what would have probably happened to your painting?

3.  Do you think a church should be filled with artwork depicting biblical stories such as paintings, sculptures, and stained glass images of Christ and the disciples?  Why or why not?

Here is the LINK for the next video that focuses on Medieval and Byzantine art.
